Abstract
In modern geopolitical conditions, when the Republic of Turkey and the Russian Federation are adjusting the priorities of their international activities, practically bringing their positions closer on a number of major foreign policy issues, it becomes extremely important to comprehend the historical experience of the already existing effective interaction between the two countries. The article analyzes the activities of the scientist and parliamentary figure V.S. Yagya to strengthen relations between Russia and Turkey. The authors evaluated the numerous speeches of Professor V.S. Yagya in the Russian press. The study also used official documents that testify to the active interaction between the Russian and Turkish sides. The facts presented in the article contribute to understanding the experience of cooperation between the parliamentarians of Turkey and St. Petersburg, and emphasize the role of science in strengthening international relations. The article shows the contribution of a prominent Russian scientist to the development of cooperation between the Republic of Turkey and the Russian Federation.
