Geçmişten Günümüze Ordu Düğünlerinde Gelin Olma Anlayışı Üzerine Bir Değerlendirme
Abstract
There are three important transition stages in human life. The first of these is birth, the third is death. These two transition stages symbolize both a new beginning and an ending in human life. However, marriage, which is seen as the second transition stage, is at the very center of human life and generally covers a large period of time in the life cycle. Rather than marriage being a concept on its own, it also includes many titles such as family, kinship, and the continuation of lineage. Wedding ceremonies are a tradition to announce marriage. The way wedding ceremonies are performed may show differences and similarities in every society, even among different ethnic groups within the same society. Many cultural events such as social rules, religion, social understanding and status, economy and education are effective on wedding ceremonies. Changes in these factors over time sometimes change the values that people have adopted, sometimes destroy them and replace them with new ones. Based on this understanding, here, the concept of bride, which has changed over time in Ordu weddings, is emphasized. The information we obtained from source people about the past was evaluated comparatively with today's understanding of bride, and the positive and negative consequences of these changes were determined by focusing on the reasons for the change in the understanding of being a bride.
