Sibirya Sahası Türk Destanlarında Kartal

Abstract

Mythic thought grows and enriches by feeding on the environment in which the society is located. Turks, who had close contact with animals in the Central Asian steppes, developed some beliefs around the animals they encountered and transferred these animals to the narrative world. The eagle is one of the animals that Turks transferred to their mythical thoughts and epics. The eagle, which draws attention with its grandeur in the sky, has been highlighted with its positive qualities both in mythical thought and in the world of epics; it has taken on different tasks in different imaginations by going beyond being just a bird. In this study, the characteristics of the eagle in Siberian field Turkish epics are evaluated, and to look at the imaginations of the eagle from a broad perspective, the place of the eagle in mythical thought is also evaluated. Thus, the Turks’ perspective on the eagle has been tried to be revealed in the line extending from mythical thought to the world of epics.
