Yabancılara Türkçe Öğretiminde Kullanılan Yeni İstanbul B1 ve B2 Ders Kitaplarındaki Konuşma Etkinliklerinin Değerlendirilmesi
Abstract
The aim of this research is to conduct a detailed analysis of the speaking activities and skill areas in the Turkish teaching textbooks at the B1 and B2 levels of Yeni İstanbul. In line with this objective, the distribution of speaking activities by type, the proportion of space allocated to speaking compared to other skills, and the alignment of the books with ADOÇEP’s productive and interactive speaking skills were evaluated using the descriptive analysis method. This study provides an in-depth examination of the effectiveness and compatibility of the speaking activities and skill areas in the Yeni İstanbul B1 and B2 textbooks.**
**The findings indicate that speaking skills are generally covered in a balanced manner in the books; however, activities that encourage critical thinking are not sufficiently included. In particular, it has been observed that the number of activities focusing on productive speaking skills is lower compared to interactive speaking. This study offers recommendations for a more effective use of educational materials in the field of teaching Turkish as a foreign language within the framework of speaking skills. By shedding light on key issues encountered in language teaching, the research aims to assist teachers in developing more effective and goal-oriented teaching strategies. While emphasizing the importance of developing speaking skills in the language learning process, this analysis also highlights the extent to which teaching materials serve this purpose.
